Daily Freeman Photo

This is a photo of me that was taken this year off the Kingston exit of the New York State Thruway. The photographer never stopped to interview me so in turn the photo was captioned:

Steamy Rolling A roller operator for Baker Brothers Excavating of West Hurley had what seemed like a warm spot on a cold, wet day Monday while he was smoothing out freshly laid 300 degree blacktop on the new traffic circle at state; Thruway exit 19 and state Route 28 in the Town of Ulster.

I, in turn, called the editor the next day and had the following adjustments made that were listed in the corrections in Wednesday's paper:

A Tuesday caption misidentified the operator of a roller smoothing blacktop near the traffic circle at Thruway Exit 19. She is Marianne Rafferty of Troy, a 15-year veteran of the construction trade. Also the contractor for whom Rafferty was working is Callanan Industries Inc. of Albany.

The moral to this story, never assume anything, get off your butt and ask!
